Hidden Sacrifice

Enlightenment is a concept that has accompanied humanity for as long as we have contemplated our existence. From the ancients to the moderns, we have strived to understand the fabric of the universe, elevate our consciousness, and reach a divine state — be it enlightenment, Nirvana, ultimate peace, the Kingdom of Heaven, Valhalla, or something else entirely. We may disagree on when this state can be achieved, yet we often share an idea of what it looks like and what it demands of us. This piece explores the cost of pursuing such a noble goal.
